Melted Carb Boot
Just aquired a 1976 GT550 with melted carb boots on the slides, whats the best way to clean out this gooy mess?
a) engine degreaser?
b) some type of paint thinner?
c) ???
Also what might be the better buy as to replacing these, I saw in other forums that not all are created equal, and some start to melt within 800 miles.
Thanks for any advice given.

I tried carb cleaner right off the bat, doesnt cut it, Go-Jo cuts it from my hands but nothing else seems to touch that rubbery mess.

Gooey Mess
Tried all sorts of degreasers, found isopropyle alcohol worked best, good luck Stuart
it 's not an easy job as the black gunk sticks like shit to a blanket & they are not cheap to replace.
