Just wanted to say HI! and introduce myself...
I have a 1974 GT550 that I have been riding for the last couple of years, I just love the sound of the 2-stroke triple wound up.
My bike is currently broke Crying or Very sad
I got it out of winter storage last weekend and apparently I had a fuel leak that filled one of the crankcases and hydrauliced the motor when I started it, I haven't torn it down yet, hopefully didn't do any serious damage.
Clivey... I love those pipes! Any idea where I could get a set for my bike? I have been searching online and haven't found anything.

Hi Buffalo!

Welcome to the new look forum.....!

The pipes are Gibsons - they made expansions under the Allspeed brand, and (as I'm led to believe) they used the name Gibson for the race expansions...

I've never seen a pair since, I reckon I need to learn to weld - I could've sold them 10 times over - they make a really harsh crackle, compared to many....

Sorry your GT is off the road, mine is coming off for a short while, tax is due and I have some very "tinkly" small ends. I've ridden it for 3 yrs and done no engine work, so I think it's gonna gett pulled apart this summer - warm days and nights in the garage!

Please keep us posted, pics too, like to hear how you're getting on...

Beautiful spring day... tore the top off my gt to see what damage was there....Aw crap!... broke piston, snapped wrist pin in two, cylinder is gouged, con rod looks slightly bent... looks like I am going to be down for a while... Drat!... I already have PMS (Parked Motorcycle Syndrom)
Good news is I found a nice 83 GS1100e reasonably priced locally, going to look at it this pm, can use it to get around till the GT is fixed.
