pings when hot Empty pings when hot

I got the bike running pretty good today. When the bike is warmed up, riding down the street going 30 mph and you let off the throttle in gear(compression braking) it has a ping, the hotter the day the louder the ping at night when its cool it runs much better (as any old 2 stroke) My rd 400 doesnt do it at all only when its a really hot day. Is this octane or fuel? jetting? or timing?
