Hi everybody

I hope you can help me. I am closing up on an engine restoration with new crankshaft, cylinders and pistons for my GT 550, which I hope will make it run like new. During this I have two parts I have totally forgotten where to put. I have been taking pictures, to prevent a situation like this, but I cannot see them in any picture, so I really need a hint.

It is two small rubber cones. I have attached pictures of the mysterious parts. In the picture you can see that mine are a bit deform, originally I assume they are round truncated cones which are1,5 cm long and 1 cm in diameter.

I'm not sure what they are, but if you look on bikebandit you might be able to find an exploded view of where they go. Did the come out of the engine?

Hi again. I guess they came from disconnecting the engine... but I am not sure, I just hope (and suppose) it is not from inside the engine. I can remember cleaning them when I had all the loose parts and thinking "These are not that important, so I dont mind they are a bit deform" at this time I knew what they were for, now 4 weeks later I'm strange enough blank... Shocked

Are they the rubber pieces that keep the gas tank from rubbing on the frame?

Jesper, they look like they might be the rubber cushions that go on the tabs on the center two mufflers to cushion your centerstand in the up position. Or maybe the two forward seat bumpers on the bottom of the seat pan.
Good luck,
Tim

Nevermind, I found 'em! They wedge between the fins of the engine case to hold the SRIS tubes in place under the left front side of the engine case. When the motor is in the frame, they are just above the left frame tube where all three SRIS tubes meet and route back under the case. I'm trying to load a picture, but servimg is being obstinant today. I'll try to get one posted later.
Hopefully that jogged your memory.

And explorer, these pieces are smaller than the one beteween the tank and frame, but thanks anyway Smile
