Hi Clivey

Dismantled my front and and started stripping a front fork.

I bought my NOS stanchions off ebay from a guy in Los Angeles about a year ago.
Now that Ive stripped and compared it turns out that these NOS stanchions are for the early type, ie they have an internal thread at the top which accepts a hexagon headed bung to retain the spring.
Later models have a pushed in bung retained by a circlip.

It seems I have three choices.

Find another pair of stanchions.
Find two threaded bungs.
Machine these stanchions to the later dimensions, this is an option, Ive measured it all and its a case of metal removal,

I imagine early type stanchions might be rarer than later types so it seems a shame to modify these.

Possibly theres someone out there that has a pair of NOS later stanchions but they want the early type?

Or any other solution.

Thought it was worth asking the question.
