CCI OIL CONSUMPTION
I'm having doubts about my CCI pump - the engine seems to use too much oil and smoke heavily despite the pump being set up as per the manual.
A full tank of CCI oil lasts about 450-500 miles. Is that normal? Thought I should get about 800 miles.

Here is how to test the oilpump: www.ozebook.com/compendium/techbuls/index.htm
In "Specifications" see Bulletins 10
Hope it can help.

Re: CCI OIL CONSUMPTION
Leif,
Thanks for the link, that is very interesting information and shows a comparison on oil consumption across the GT models. I do not have the oil gauge mentioned here but I could probably rig up something. The values quoted are very specific and I think it will be difficult to measure these with the accuracy required. I have never managed to get my 550 motor to run at a steady 1000rpm! The idle speed according to the manual is supposed to be 1100rpm, anything less and it starts to snatch. I think this information was produced by engineers at the factory and is of theoretical value mainly. I am wondering whether my bike has a GT750 oil pump fitted - but there seems to be no way of identifying the GT triple pumps, no part number or other identification stamped on them like RD Yamahas.
Any ideas?
